“Here I Stand”

Nothing to say about this one. I would have something to say, but I suspect people are already familiarised with my choice of topic.

“Here I Stand”

Eternal glare to the black yonder,
Motionless, stoic and bland,
Eyes – a thousand mouths that hunger,
Here I am and here I stand.

I whet my tongue with stone and shale
As terror shrieks above the land.
Guiding the cold hands of the pale,
Here I am and here I stand.

Salt and bile fills my lungs
As my breath disturbs the sand.
I still remember all those songs,
For where I once stood, I still stand.

Shivering shades of faithless hope
Bring forth old memories so grand.
I ponder, strive to hone my scope,
Yet, I never understand.
