“Locrian Love”

I’ve pieced together some thoughts I’ve been pondering for several days. While oddly pleased with the result, I have a haunting feeling that it could have been so much more than this.

“Locrian Love”

This world is coming to a fall;
Would you throw away the key?
Can you hear the fire call?
Would you stay and burn with me?

Sepulchral bells ring well tonight;
Do you hear their locrian song?
Would you hold one fast and tight,
If you felt that it was wrong?

I was sent to worship you
And I shall do so eagerly;
Would I worship if I knew?
Would you stay and kneel with me?

Iron stains the holy ground
Where they gluttoned in the feast;
Could you pray away the sound?
Would you help me tame the beast?

When I’ll close my eyes eternal,
Would you be the one to see
That our blessed gift nocturnal
Will have burned with you and me?
